Tom Larson - Owner of Turning Trail
A little about Tom.
I live in northern Minnesota and am blessed with an environment that provides a variety of beautiful wood as the resource for my art work. I create both functional and non-functional items on the lathe.
My work includes turned platters, hollow form vases, a variety of bowls and boxes as well as spinning tops and other unique items. Some pieces are enhanced with techniques that include wood burning, texturing, carving and inlay. Each piece of wood is unique and the items that I create are one of a kind.
Taking a block of wood, a distressed burl or part of a tree trunk and guiding it through the process of roughing out to finishing allows me to create a beautiful form. I strive to complete each individual piece so that it is not only pleasing to look at and hold but also presents a flawless quality of workmanship.
By keeping the process as simple as possible, I let the natural beauty of the wood dominate each shape and form. It is my personal and artistic goal, to create each piece as if it were my only one.

I love woodtuming!!!
